GO TRI is a fun easy way to access the sport for the first time. Join in swim, cycle or run sessions and take part in your first event locally at a reasonable cost and distances suited to you.

Lets start with the basics ....

Swimming

Leg 1 of 3

It starts with getting wet! The length of the swim can be as little as 4 lengths of a regular 25m pool. You can swim breaststroke or front crawl, and even take a breather at the end of length if you need it.

Kit list:

  • Swim costume
  • Goggles

And that’s it, most events will have swim hats.

Cycling

Leg 2 of 3

Time to get on the bike! Some events will be on open roads, others may use bike paths or closed roads.

Kit list:

  • Shorts and t-shirt, or whatever you feel comfortable in
  • A road worthy bike, with working brakes on both wheels. No motors! Pedals only!
  • A bike helmet – all modern bike helmets will meet the standard required

Running

Leg 3 of 3

One foot in front of the other and repeat, you can run / walk / jog or a mix of all three. Most events will finish on the run, so expect a real sense of achievement when you cross the finishing line of your first triathlon!

Kit list:

  • You can run in what you cycled in!
  • A pair of trainers

Events & Training

frequent & Local

The GO TRI website lists training sessions as well as events across the country, making it easy to get involved and even make a few friends locally.

Use the search facility to find sessions and events near to you. The map will show events pins as checked flag icons and training with a weightlifter icon. New events and training centres are added every month, so check back regularly to see what's been added since your last visit.

Race & Event days

GO TRI is designed to introduce you to triathlon by making it more accessible.

It's not about being the quickest or having the latest gear. It's about taking it at your own pace and having fun! Whilst technically it isn't a race, the real race begins when you finish - beating your time at the next event!

Take part in more events and improve your times. Track your progression and see how you do against others.

After logging training & attending events you can earn badges and achievements which are published on The Pulse and your profile page.

Once you’ve completed a couple of GO TRI events and fancy a further challenge Triathlon England is the place to find more information.
